This one definitely has a personality.
I became a little obsessed with making this Queensland Boulder Opal come alive - and the moment I started adding those tiny piercing-inspired silver jewels, everything changed. Suddenly she had movement, attitude and a whole lot more jeweled-up magic.
And so the Bejeweled Jewel was born.
At the heart of this one-of-a-kind pendant is a spectacular Queensland Boulder Opal, flashing deep ocean blues, electric turquoise and touches of green. I surrounded her with layers of hand-fabricated sterling silver, incorporating a Native American stamp into the ornate top detail for texture and character.
Every part of this pendant was hand fabricated by me in my Eumundi studio. A Carmen original so to speak…
She’s bold. She’s unusual. She’s a little bit out there… And honestly, those are my favourite jewels to make.
I love creating talisman jewellery — pieces that feel like they were meant to find one particular person, then stay with them for years and years. A jewel to wear, collect memories in and eventually pass down.
A true statement talisman for someone who was never meant to wear ordinary jewellery.
